Potluck Supper and Program

A social gathering at 7 pm at the garden of Lynette and Craig Seymour at 3103 Eisenhower Avenue, Ames. This will be a pot luck garden party so bring your favorite summer snack or desert to share with other gardeners. Table service and refreshments will be provided. If necessary there will be a business meeting.

This opportunity will showcase research projects being conducted at the station in all areas of horticulture. Concurrent sessions will allow you to learn more about specific areas of horticulture and to network with others in the “growing” horticulture industry.

Special areas of interest will highlight vegetable production, apple, grape, and small fruit production and wine tasting, lawn and turf management, urban tree development, landscape design and installation, organic horticulture, and farm pond and surface water management.

Registration is $20.00 for full day attendance and lunch. On-site registration begins at 8:00 am on Aug. 6. Concurrent sessions begin at 9:00 am. Dr. Jeff Iles at 515-294-3718 or e-mail at iles@iastate.edu to register or for more information.

Back by popular demand! Dr. Bill Graves will lead a tour around the ISU campus to highlight some of the trees. Meet at the fountain on the north side of the Memorial Union at 2:00pm Sunday, Sept 13.

See how master gardeners Tom and Deanna Jordan have integrated a fruit and vegetable garden in their backyard, along with their flower beds. Check out their version of a rain barrel, an herb garden, a compost pile, and upside down pepper and tomato plants.
